Jackson Leadership Celebration Jackson Elementary welcomed Mrs. Jenny Rogers (a former Jackson student) and DB's amazing "Armonia" to help celebrate their Leadership Celebration. Mr. Steve, one of our wonderful bus drivers, also shared good news with students. This school-wide celebration helped us celebrate all of the leaders that we have at our school. We also recognized individuals for having great bus behavior, All A's, and perfect attendance. Way to go Jackson Braves!!!
Jr. Braves Council has first meeting The Jr. Braves Council had their first Leadership Meeting this week to discuss ways that they can take responsibility for the their school and be leaders inside the building. The Jr. Braves Council is made up of K-3rd grade students who have shown exceptional leadership abilities.
Jackson program gets students eating, moving, and learning Jackson program gets students eating, moving, and learning. The Morning Choice System, implemented in August for the 2015-16 school year, gives students physical activity, reading and teacher help in the morning as well as the option of a free breakfast.
Jackson Clubs are lots of fun! Jackson students were able to participate in special clubs this Friday morning. Each student selected a club that they would like to join based on their interests. Students who complete their work and have no office referrals are able to go to their club during the monthly meeting time. Some clubs include: Girl Power, Running/Walking, Basketball, Soccer, LEGO Stream, Science experiments, Cooking, and Art Fun.
Jackson visits the Kingsport Carousel All Jackson Elementary School were able to visit the Kingsport Carousel last week during Related Arts. Due to the generosity of the people of Kingsport and the hard work of the volunteers, we were able to take this amazing trip for free. The students loved this special event!
Physical Properties Lab The fourth grade classes at Jackson participated in a physical properties lab during science. They worked hard to measure the physical properties of different objects. They even measured the properties of chocolate.
We are Thankful! The Kindergarten students at Jackson got to experience a Thanksgiving feast before the holiday break.
Reading Buddies The 5th grade students at Jackson have been given an opportunity to be leaders for younger students. They are participating in a Reading Buddies program where they can inspire younger students to love to read!
Jackson Teacher Provides Autism Training to Local Organization Jackson special education teacher Rachel Black worked this past week with Girls Inc. to provide their staff with training on how to best care for students with autism.
