hi buddy I might give me your Tennessee State Route in the classroom coordinator first off I'd like to thank everybody that participated in the program this year and the effort that you put into resort Route up until Christmas break know that some of you catch your fish we're going to raise them through to our releasing the spring but some of your classmates have decided to release before Christmas break break from having to come in and feed and water changes so today we're on the Watauga River here in Elizabethton Tennessee and we're going to release your fish into the into the river where they're going to grow into hopefully decent size rainbow trout as you know when you were doing your water testing you had to test for dip things like temperature and pH and nitrates and nitrites and the reason that you kept for your fish had the same chemical composition as this River so as we went through the year with your tank we had your water match the water here reason we do that is so that when we release your fish the fish don't get shocked when they go in the water and happy life I can just swim off and be happy so we don't have too many fish today because we only had four schools in the overmountain chapter region that released for Christmas break will have nine more schools that release in the spring so when we do that on the Holston River the event where we have everybody come on the buses and we have 400 kids or so and we do the fly casting and collect the bugs and zap the fish with the with the TWRA people and get to play with them you'll really enjoy the everybody seems to have a good time with it so today we're just going to release the fish that's all we're going to do we have the fish in a plastic bag and Twan has been sitting in the river for a little how to acclimate them to temperatures are at 52 degrees this is a bottom flow River comes out of a dam at the bottom of the so every day when the water comes out of the bottom of the it's 52 degrees everyday winter summer spring and fall so that's why we had your tank in school at 52 degrees so we're going to take your fish you raised well done and we're going to release the group b part of our ecosystem if I can't video camera if you're watching this in class want you to give yourself a round of applause for the good work you've done to raise your fish and I also want you to give your teachers around of Applause because believe it or not they put in a I work in effort to get these fish to grow to this side and here we go you can see how they don't stay close to shore they tend to move out into the current nice fish will instinctively look for crevices in the rock or any little weed beds that they can hide in to start searching for food almost immediately so again thank you for participating in trout in the classroom and we'll see you in the spring
